Early Learning Centre
Early learning in Kaniva.
Located on Baker Street, our childcare service is an important part of the tight-knit Kaniva community in the Mallee.
You can rely on us for long day care to support your busy schedule, while we provide fun and creative early learning experiences for your child.
Our small group sizes allow children of all ages to interact and grow together as they learn the values that reflect our local community, including kindness, resilience and teamwork.
Our educators are experienced in supporting children who live with a range of physical and intellectual disabilities.

We invite you to:
- Celebrate significant cultural festivals and days
- Talk to the children about your job, hobbies or other interesting topics
- Volunteer your time to support our programs.
We have strong connections with our local Aboriginal community, surrounding schools, museums and farms for your child to create connections and celebrate diversity.
Your child will visit:
- The primary school
- Library
- Police, paramedics, nurses and firefighters

- First Nations groups and members.

Service Leader
Kelly
Hi, I’m Kelly, the Service Leader at Kaniva Uniting Early Learning. I’ve worked in the EL sector for 7 years. I have a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care and am currently working towards my Bachelor of Early Childhood Education.
My passion for early education stems from allowing children the freedom to follow their own journey and expand their unique, magical experiences.
The team at Kaniva provides children with a flexible, nurturing, and safe play environment that engages their individual interests and extends on their learning opportunities. We are trained professionals who are held to high regulation standards that ensure the health and safety of everyone.
Health and wellbeing
Mental health
Our educators are trained in various programs to support the mental health of your child and are skilled in working with children who have experienced challenges and trauma. We also offer mental health support for families if you find yourself in need of assistance.
Nutrition
We offer fun and practical activities on cooking, food safety and gardening to give your child the knowledge and desire to make healthy food and lifestyle choices. At our early learning service, we:
- Grow our own fruit, vegetables and herbs
- Emphasise food safety
- Work with families from a range of cultural backgrounds to ensure cultural foods meet food standard requirements
- Offer progressive snack and lunchtime to empower children to ask for what they want and when
- Encourage children to eat fruit and healthy options before other snacks
- Give children input on what to grow and cook from our gardens.
Safe environment
As a child safe organisation, our educators undergo regular working with children’s and police checks. We are focused on delivering learning and development in a safe and supportive environment, so you can trust that your child is in good hands.
