Early learning in Bruthen.
Our kindergarten in Bruthen is located on Seehusen Avenue, next to the Mount Elizabeth Nature Conservation Reserve.
We offer a creative kinder program, led by educators who are focused on nurturing your child’s individual strengths, interests and social connections.
We teach values that reflect our local community including kindness, resilience and teamwork.
Our educators provide an inclusive environment and are experienced in working with children who live with physical and intellectual disabilities.
We have access to the local Pre-school Field Officer, Gippsland Lakes Community Health, Scope and Early Childhood Intervention Services and Aurora School for deaf children and their families.

- Planned indoor spaces
- Large outdoor spaces
- Sand and mud pits
- Recycling area
- Cubby house
- Trees and natural shade
- Herb and vegetable gardening beds
- Shade sail
- Swings
- Play area and climbing equipment

Learning experiences
Our activities are focused on your child’s interests, the environment and exploring the world
around us. Your child will be exposed to new people, experiences and learn skills that will help them become broad thinkers and active community members. Some of the activities your child will participate in include:
- Recycling
- Learning about water conservation
- Excursions to the local school and shops
- Educational and entertaining visits from community organisations.
Family and community connections
We build relationships with each family so we can best support your child. Each month families can contribute to our kindergarten program discussions and become involved in projects, like our recent playground redesign. We involve families and the community in the following ways:
- Volunteering and fundraising opportunities
- Visits to the local primary school to help your child transition to school
- Trips to the local library to encourage a love of reading
- Meeting local fire and rescue, police, paramedics, nurses and wellbeing practitioners
- Connecting with First Nations community groups and members
- Visiting local farms.
Language
We can have all forms of communication translated for families who speak languages other than English.

Paula and Yvonne
Hi, we’re Paula and Yvonne, and we’re respectively the Boorai Coordinator and Kindergarten Teacher at Bruthen Boorai Uniting Early Learning. Yvonne holds a Diploma of Teaching (Early Childhood) and has worked in the sector for 30 years. Paula has over ten years experience in the early learning sector and has been at Boorai for several years. We’re excited to get to know each child and their families and learn about the personalities of the individual children. Our teams have a wealth of knowledge and experience, which is reflected in the environment we create. Not only will your child be respected and supported in a safe space, but they will also be guided positively to enhance their social and emotional development. They’ll build trusting We work closely together to ensure that communication is of the highest standard to maintain children’s safety and well– being. We look forward to welcoming your family into our service.

Health and wellbeing
Mental Health
Our educators are trained in various programs to support the mental health of your child and are skilled in working with children who have experienced challenges and trauma. We also offer mental health support for families if you find yourself in need of assistance.
Nutrition
Your child will learn about nutrition, how to look after their body and the importance of an active lifestyle. We do this by:
- Growing our own fruit, vegetables and herbs
- Catering for all dietary requirements
- Educating children on food safety
- Ensuring cultural foods meet the standard requirements
- Eating together to encourage socialisation and good table behaviour
- Empowering children to tell us when they are hungry, so we can bring mealtime forward.

As a child safe organisation, our educators undergo regular working with children’s and police checks. We are focused on delivering learning and development in a safe and supportive environment, so you can trust that your child is in good hands.
