Boroondara Uniting Kindergarten Richmond plays an important role in supporting children and families across the Richmond and broader Yarra community. As a long-standing local kindergarten, the centre provides a welcoming place where children can build confidence, curiosity, and a sense of belonging close to home.
As part of the wider Uniting Vic.Tas Early Learning Network, the kindergarten is connected to a community of early learning services that share a commitment to inclusive, high-quality education. Families can access both 3-year-old and 4-year-old kindergarten programs designed to support children’s development during these formative years.
Pre-prep: If your child meets the criteria for priority access, you may be eligible for up to an additional 7.5 hours of free kindergarten per week. From 2026, Pre-prep is available for 4 year old children enrolled in a kindergarten program in these priority cohorts:
• identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
• are from a refugee or asylum seeker background

Centre Co-ordinator
Hi, I’m Helen and I’m the Co-ordinator at Boroondara Kindergarten. I’ve worked as an educator here for over 25 years. As well as holding a Bachelor of Education, I have a Graduate Certificate in Orff Music.
Each child has their own learning journey and I feel privileged to share in part of that journey. My own early journey was rich with experiences in music making, movement, exploring my backyard and beyond, building resilience and belief in myself. BK is how we refer to Boroondara Kindergarten. It also signifies ‘be kind’ – to all who cross the threshold – the children, the families, the members of our team, those who work with and alongside the children, families and staff in a range of capacities and those who provide support and service to the work we undertake.
Interested in early learning in Richmond? Families can contact us to express interest, book a tour, and submit enrollment forms through Uniting’s customer service team. Once forms are received, families are supported through the next steps of the enrollment and orientation process.
Families are welcome to explore our other locations to compare programs or find a service closer to home or work.

As a child safe organisation, our educators undergo regular working with children’s and police checks. We are focussed on delivering learning and development in a safe and supportive environment, so you can trust that your child is in good hands.
