Team Leader and Teacher
Hi, I’m Sherri and I’ve been the Team Leader and a Teacher at Cardigan Village Uniting Kindergarten since 2019. I’ve worked in the sector for 27 years and hold a Bachelor of Teaching and Graduate Diploma in Education.
I love forming positive connections with children and their families to become a part of their extended family as children begin their education journey. Every child brings their own set of unique characteristics and to see them grow and develop is something I love being a part of. I also love being part of the wonderful Education team at Uniting, learning from one another and sharing our experiences so that we are always growing professionally.
At Cardigan Village Uniting Kindergarten, we value the secure attachments that children form with us, the importance of play and an environment that’s warm and welcoming to families. Our educational program allows children to be curious, learn and have fun, while experiencing new things, be empowered to be themselves, celebrate their culture, language, and feelings. We respect that families are a child’s first teacher, helping them to be informed, empowered, healthy and resilient individuals.
In our kindergarten we make friends, form connections, and celebrate community spirit.
Our educators are trained in various programs to support the mental health of your child. We explore emotions with the children and ways to self-regulate, co-operate, and understand feelings. Our educators are skilled in working with children who have experienced challenges and trauma. We also offer mental health support for families if you find yourself in need of assistance.
We encourage children to eat well and be active to help take care of themselves. We do this by teaching children about nutrition and eating well. We enjoy cooking session to teach the children how to cook healthy food. We also encourage our children to drink well, placing an emphasis on the importance of drinking water instead of sugary drinks. We are partner with Smiles 4 Miles, which is a healthy lifestyle and oral health initiative to promote wellbeing in young children.
As a child safe organisation, our educators undergo regular working with children’s and police checks. We are focussed on delivering learning and development in a safe and supportive environment, so you can trust that your child is in good hands.
