Service Leader and Teacher

Jodie

Hi, I’m Jodie and I’m the Service leader, Educational leader and Teacher at The Basin Uniting Kindergarten. I have a Bachelor of Early Childhood Studies and an Associate Diploma in Social Science.

I’ve worked in the sector for over 30 years, and within Knox early learning centres for 20.

The most incredible part about early learning is children’s wonder in everything they do. – Being able to build on their knowledge and understanding of the world and the community around them is so rewarding.

Our engaging natural play spaces, open ended play experiences and our intentional teaching skills provide an incredibly rich and immersive kindergarten program for the children.

Our wonderful team loves to build quality relationships and connections with the families in our kindergarten. We really enjoy making families feel welcome.

We build on children’s social and emotional skills and give them the tools and strategies needed to navigate life and interacting with others such as conflict resolution, making friends and regulating their emotions.

We look forward to seeing you and sharing our wonderful kindergarten with your family.

Health and wellbeing

Mental health

Our educators are trained in various programs to support the mental health of your child and are skilled in working with children who have experienced challenges and trauma. We can also refer to mental health support programs for families if you find yourself in need of assistance.

Nutrition

Your child will learn about good nutrition to form healthy eating habits. We do this by growing fruit, vegetables and herbs in our centre garden. We also teach food safety practices. We respect and follow culturally appropriate food guidelines as we educate the children about healthy eating and nutrition.

Safe environment

As a child safe organisation, our educators undergo regular working with children’s and police checks. We are focused on delivering learning and development in a safe and supportive environment, so you can trust that your child is in good hands.
