Nominated Supervisor

Raquel

Hi, I’m Raquel and I’m the Nominated Supervisor and one of the kindergarten teachers at Glassford
Street Uniting Kindergarten.

My career in the early years spans around 20 years and has included roles in multiple services and settings, including kindergarten, education and care, playgroup, funding and policy, advocacy, family services, and community development. I have a Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood).

As a mother of two children, I understand and appreciate the importance of the early years for children’s learning and development, and the significant time this is for families. My professional philosophy values the import role of family and community in shaping children’s identities and sense of wellbeing.

The Glassford teaching team values the cultural and social contexts of our families while developing respectful relationships that support each individual child to be the best version of
themselves. We’re committed to equity and treating both children and families with the utmost respect.

We look forward to welcoming you to our kindergarten community.

Mental health

Our educator are trained in various programs to support the mental health of your child and are skilled in working with children who have experienced challenges and trauma. We also offer mental health support for families if you find yourself in need of assistance.

Nutrition

We support your child to make healthy food choices with the key message: Eat Well, Drink Well, Clean Well. We cook with fresh produce from our kinder garden, share healthy recipes and offer children a fresh fruit platter at the beginning of each session.

Safe environment

As a child safe organisation, our educators undergo regular working with children’s and police checks. We are focussed on delivering learning and development in a safe and supportive environment, so you can trust that your child is in good hands.
