We are part of the Victorian Department of Education and Training (DET) Early Childhood Language Program. Our kindergarten offers a Japanese Language Program. Japanese is incorporated into everyday learning experiences to give children meaningful opportunities to use the language themselves. Children learn this language through play, art, music, singing, dancing, and stories. A qualified Japanese teacher delivers the language program in partnership with the other staff at the kinder. Learning in languages other than English helps children to improve their overall literacy and understanding of how language in general works. There are many benefits to children learning in another language at a young age, including:
We can also have communication translated and interpreted for families who speak languages other than English.
Hi, my name is Sue-Ellen and I have been working in Early Childhood Education for around 40 years. In this time, I have worked in many different areas of the sector and am currently also a mentor for the Victorian Teachers Institute. I am passionate about teaching and that is why I have remained in the sector my entire working life.
Our team at Longford have a strong emphasis on community and the environment. We promote the benefits of outdoor play and learning to care for and respect the land of the Gunaikurnai, the traditional custodians of the land. We also believe in teaching children to be global citizens and learning about sustainable practice.
Our educators are trained in various programs to support the mental health of your child and are skilled in working with children who have experienced challenges and trauma. We also offer mental health support for families if you find yourself in need of assistance.
Your child will learn about sustainable living, basic nutrition and the importance of exercise. At our kinder, we:
As a child safe organisation, our educators undergo regular working with children’s and police checks. We are focussed on delivering learning and development in a safe and supportive environment, so you can trust that your child is in good hands.
