Ivanhoe Uniting Church Kindergarten's experienced educators provide a caring and nurturing environment for 3 and 4 year old kindergarten children. We work with families and external services to provide the best possible education, care and support for every child and family that attends our centre.
Conveniently located next to Ivanhoe train station, our kindergarten also has ample parking and a bus stop directly out the front.
With COVID restricting access to our service we have created a 3-D Virtual Tourwith a dollshouse view and a highlight reel.
Many wonderful facilities help stimulate children’s curiosity and learning including a veggie patch and a digging patch.
We have a large indoor space and kitchen that we use regularly for cooking. It features a range of permanent learning areas and challenging activities for the children as well as samples of their play-based learning.
Our kindergarten features:
We have a large outdoor space for physical activities and games surrounded by natural shaded areas with very old trees, a water tank and a raised garden. We also have a train line the children enjoy watching, as well as a digging patch and a wide variety of play equipment in the shed.
We teach children about natural resources and the world around them, using our garden, bark, sand and our recycled tank water in our play-based activities. We teach sustainability through recycling and care for natural living and non-living things via activities such as hatching chickens and butterflies, reptile visits, responsible pet programs, and finding living things in nature in our outside area.
We love welcoming visitors to our kindergarten from the local church and school and we host a number of fun incursions including
We have a strong focus on healthy eating and nutrition. Meals are prepared on site and focus on providing balanced nutrition, flavour and variety. Food safety and accommodating diverse dietary requirements is important to us.
Our children grow the food that we cook in our kitchen in our own veggie patch. We cook this food using our recycled water. We work sensitively with parent and families from a range of cultural backgrounds to ensure cultural foods meet food standard requirements. We also offer progressive snack and lunch time to empower children to ask for what they want and when.
Our early learning centre is a place of nurturing family and community. Parents and carers are the most important people in a child’s development, and parent involvement is a crucial part of making our centre successful. We encourage parents and carers to be active in their child’s learning, whether by contributing to program development or interacting with our early learning communities.
We invite families, community members and offer in-house visits and programs to families to explore the world and provide positive relationships.
Our educators also speak Italian.
Our educators are experienced in working with children who live with a range of physical and intellectual disabilities
