Cardigan Village Kindergarten is located on Mitchell Drive, Ballarat, and offers early learning experiences to prepare your child for school. Our 3 year old sessions run on Wednesdays from 9:30am to 2:30pm, and our 4 year old sessions are held on Wednesday and Thursday 8:30am to 4:30pm.

As a rural community, we focus on small group experiences, spending time exploring the environment and connecting with the world around us.

To showcase our facility we have created a 3-D Virtual Tour with a dollhouse view and a highlight reel.

Learning experiences

At Cardigan Village Kindergarten we believe that childhood is unique time in the development of your child where solid foundations are being laid for positive future learning and wellbeing.

We believe in high expectations for all children and our program reflects this by being inclusive and our environment positive, nurturing, and challenging.

We value the importance of care in a physical and emotional environment that fosters feelings of recognition, importance, friendship, kindness, empathy, belonging, resilience, teamwork, fun, fairness, and self-confidence.

To educate children about the importance of community:

  • We embed Indigenous Perspectives throughout our curriculum
  • We enjoy weekly visits to our local park and surrounds to enjoy nature play and learning
  • We embed the importance of sustainability, caring for our environment and the world around us

We also enjoy incursions and excursions to local places such as:

  • Our local library
  • Primary schools
  • Fire station
  • Responsible Pet Educator
  • Dental Hygienist
  • Local Indigenous friends
  • Musicians
Health and wellbeing

We believe in guiding children to become strong in their social, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing by introducing children to the basic principles of living an active and healthy life.

We are in partnership with Smiles 4 Miles which is a healthy eating, healthy lifestyles, and oral health initiative to promote wellbeing in young children.

We encourage children to eat well, play and be active as well as taking care of ourselves and our environment. We do this by:

  • Teaching children about nutrition

Drinking well – drink water instead of sugary drinks

Eating well – Eating a wide variety of nutritious foods

Cleaning well – Cleaning teeth and maintaining good oral health

  • Organise fun, energetic activities
  • Encourage recycling, composting and develop sustainable habits
  • Enjoy cooking experiences
  • We explore emotions and ways to self -regulate, co-operate, and understand our feelings

Family and community

Cardigan Village is a rapidly growing community that sits on the rural urban edge of Ballarat.
