Alfredton Uniting Kindergarten

Limited places available. Enrol now.

Alfredton Uniting Kindergarten has cared for and educated children of our community for over 55 years.

Located west of the Ballarat CBD and Lake Wendouree, we are nestled on a quiet street beside the Toy Library. Our kindergarten offers children a fun, stimulating space to learn, play, create, and develop the skills they need for their first year of school.

At our kindergarten, your child will have great learning adventures, delighting in stimulating indoor and outdoor activities like our fruit, vegetable, and herbs garden where they see, touch, feel and learn as they play.

To showcase our facility we have created a 3-D Virtual Tour with dollshouse view and highlight reel.

  • Large indoor and outdoor spaces designed for learning, exploration, and play
  • Sand and mud pits
  • A pergola, shade trees and sails for sun protection
  • Vegetable garden beds and a worm farm
  • A recycling area to encourage sustainability and caring for the environment
  • Play equipment for games and climbing, skipping, throwing and catching activities.

Learning Experiences

We love excursions! Children go on inspiring outings to the local primary school, discover new places, and get involved with community events and environmental programs that will help them become responsible young citizens.

Considering the world around us is valued in our daily activities. We care for the environment and encourage children to get involved in:

  • Recycling, reusing and reducing water and wastage
  • Developing habits for eco-friendly living
  • Learning about sustainable practices
  • Composting food scraps
  • Maintaining our worm farm.
Health and wellbeing

Every day at Alfredton Preschool, children are building the foundations for healthy habits, learning about basic nutrition, and setting themselves up for good health and happiness at school, home, and life.

Whether they’re digging around in the garden or delighting at the new fruit and vegetables they’ve helped grow, children are discovering new and interesting ways of nurturing their minds and bodies.

We encourage this by:

  • Growing our own herbs, vegetables, and fruit in our garden
  • Accommodating diverse dietary requirements
  • Teaching children about, and practising, food safety
  • Ensuring we respect and adhere to culturally appropriate food guidelines
  • Educating children and their families about healthy eating and nutrition.

Family and Community

Everyone works together to create a wondrous space for children to learn about their community and other cultures. Families join our kindergarten in celebrating culturally significant events, visiting our early learning centre to talk about what they do, sharing their heritage, and other interesting topics. We also get involved in fundraising activities for causes that are important to our community, like Jeans for Genes Day and Red Nose Day.

Our advisory committee offers even more opportunities for parents to connect and contribute to their child’s preschool experience - ensuring a fair and fun learning framework for all.

We strengthen our relationship with the community by regularly engaging with:

  • Local primary school
  • Library
  • Museums
  • Local service people such as police, paramedic, nurse, fire and emergency services
  • Wellbeing practitioners
  • Indigenous community members or groups
  • Animal trainers or handlers
  • Farmers
  • Art galleries
  • Local fruit and vegetable store owners.
