Early learning in Glen Iris.

Located on Glen Iris Road, our kindergarten environment is based on the values of friendship, kindness, empathy, belonging, resilience, teamwork, fun and fairness.

With small class sizes, our educators can focus on nurturing your child’s strengths, interests and social connections.

Our buddy program with the Glen Iris Primary School will help your child prepare for life beyond kinder.

Learning experiences

Children enjoy a range of activities at our kinder that expose them to the world in fun and educational ways.

Connecting with nature

Your child will participate in sustainable practices like recycling materials and water, composting and tending to the worm farm. Our kindergarten runs a year-round Nature Kinder Program at the Glen Iris Wetlands. Through this weekly program, your child will connect with the local environment and discover the many benefits of getting involved in nature and an active lifestyle.

We run a Chinese language program supported by a qualified Chinese teacher and supplement this with the Early learning Languages Australia Program through iPad apps and play. We can have all forms of communication translated for families who speak languages other than English.

Centre Co-ordinator and Teacher

Hi, I’m Kathy and I’ve been the Centre Co-ordinator and a teacher at Glen Iris Rd Uniting Kindergarten since 2009 and have worked in the sector for 30 years. I have a Diploma of Teaching in Early Childhood and a Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Studies.

The old saying that “it takes a village to raise a child” is so true. I live, work and have raised a family in this community and feel a true connection to the children and families that I work with and the broader community.

The early years are the foundation to life and what we do as Early Childhood Educators in collaboration with families can make a huge difference to a child. I feel privileged to be able to contribute to the lives of children in such a positive way.

At Glen Iris Rd Kinder we are a dedicated, passionate, and caring team of Early Childhood educators with a wealth of knowledge and experience. Your child’s safety and education in a nurturing and fun environment is paramount to us. Drop in anytime to say hi, we’d love to meet you.

Health and wellbeing

Mental health

Our educators are trained in various programs to support the mental health of your child and are skilled in working with children who have experienced challenges and trauma. We also offer mental health support for families if you find yourself in need of assistance.

Kindergarten is a time for your child to learn about basic nutrition, food safety and the importance of exercise. Your child will take part in activities to promote a healthy lifestyle, such as gardening, cooking and playtime exercise. We grow our own fruit, vegetables and herbs and always practise food safety.

Safe environment

As a child safe organisation, our educators undergo regular working with children’s and police checks. We are focussed on delivering learning and development in a safe and supportive environment, so you can trust that your child is in good hands.
