Early learning in Buninyong.
Located near the Buninyong Recreation Park and Community Reserve, our kindergarten offers a welcoming an inclusive environment for all children.
Our educators are passionate about nurturing your child’s self-esteem, sense of belonging and wellbeing to help them thrive.
Your child will participate in hands-on activities and collaborative play to foster their strengths, interests and social connections.
Our goal is to nurture happy, healthy children and inspire a lifelong love of learning.

Our centre
Your child will express themselves through fun games and learning activities in our large indoor and outdoor spaces. Our kinder features:
- Planned indoor spaces
- Two large outdoor play areas
- Sand pits
- Trees that provide natural shade
- Gardening beds including vegetables, herbs and a bush tucker garden
- Orchid
- Worm farm
- Bike track
- Obstacle courses
- Climbing mountain
- Cubby house
- Kinder pets
- Dry riverbed
- Equipment for climbing, skipping, throwing and catching.

Learning experiences
Your child will go on excursions, enjoy incursions, get involved in the local community and take part in environmental programs to help them become active members of the Buninyong community.
Caring for the environment
We encourage children to care for the world around them. Your child will learn about:

Excursions
We want your child to explore the Buninyong community and enjoy new adventures. Our excursions include visits to the local:
- Botanical gardens
- Schools
- Buninyong Bakehouse
- De Soza Park
- Wildlife Park
- Lal Lal waterfalls.
Incursions
We have strong partnerships with the local schools to prepare your child for their transition to primary school. We also invite prep students to visit our centre and interact with the children. Other incursions include visits from:
- Emergency service providers
- Responsible pet ownership experts
- Musicians
- Roo keepers
- Dance makers.
Family and community connections
We live in a small town and believe it’s important for families and the local community get involved in our kinder. You can participate in:
- Celebrating significant cultural festivals and days
- Talking to the children about your job, hobbies and other interesting topics
- Volunteering to support our programs
- Assisting with fundraising.
To help your child get involved in our community, we partner with the

Languages
We explore languages of other countries and encourage our families to share their spoken languages. We also teach Auslan (Australian Sign Language).

Emma
Hi, I’m Emma Winter and I’m the Nominated Supervisor and a teacher at Buninyong Uniting Kindergarten.
I have a Bachelor of Teaching with a specialisation in Early Childhood and have worked in the Early Learning sector for 15 years. I’ve led the team at Buninyong Uniting Kindergarten for 6 years.
I’m inspired by children and how they view and contribute to the world around them. Having the responsibility to respectfully nurture and scaffold a child’s learning, development and wellbeing is very special and something I don’t take for granted. I feel so privileged to work with so many children and families.
The Kinder has a long history in the community (over 60 years!), in some cases having had multiple generations of families attend.
The team at Buninyong are dedicated and invested in the children and families that attend. We strive to make change and be a voice for the vulnerable and disadvantaged. Our roles allow us to make a positive impact for children from all backgrounds.
Our team care and provide quality education and opportunities for the children that attend.
Health and wellbeing
Mental health
Our educators are trained in various programs to support the mental health of your child and are skilled in working with children who have experienced challenges and trauma. We can also provide local referrals for mental health support for families if you find yourself in need of assistance.
Nutrition
We teach children about nutrition and the importance of looking after their body. We grow our own produce in our centre garden including fruit, vegetables and herbs. We encourage your child to practise food safety and encourage them to make their own, healthy choices of what they eat.
Safe environment
As a child safe organisation, our educators undergo regular working with children’s and police checks. We are focussed on delivering learning and development in a safe and supportive environment, so you can trust that your child is in good hands.
