Melton Uniting Kindergarten

Melton Uniting Kindergarten is closing in December 2025. Enrolments are welcome for 2024 and 2025 but we will not be accepting enrolments for 2026. Those who enrol children in our 3-year-old program in 2025 should seek alternative enrolments for 4-year-old kinder in 2026.

Early Learning Centre
Early learning in Melton.
Our kindergarten is located at the Melton Uniting Church, behind the Melton Valley Golf Club and a short walk from Melton Primary School.
We offer a creative kinder program, led by educators who are focussed on nurturing your child’s strengths, interests and social connections.
We teach values that reflect our small local community, including kindness, resilience and teamwork.
Our educators provide an inclusive environment and are experienced in working with children of diverse needs, strengths and abilities.

Your child will enjoy indoor and outdoor learning activities to improve their motor skills and build friendships. Our kindergarten features:

- Cubby house
- Equipment for climbing, skipping, throwing and catching

We encourage hands-on, nature-based activities and collaborative play in an environment that will empower your child to take initiative in their learning journey and make friends along the way.
Caring for the environment
Your child will learn about sustainable practices and get their hands dirty in our garden. We encourage children to develop everyday sustainable practices through activities such as recycling and composting. We grow our own fruit and vegetables.

Family and community connections
Community is at the heart of everything we do. We encourage families and the local community to get involved in our kindergarten. We encourage you to participate in:
- Celebrating significant cultural festivals and days
- Talking to the children about your job, hobbies and other interesting topics
- Volunteering your time to support our programs
- Assisting with fundraising
- Our Parent Partnership Group (positions are elected at the annual meeting of kindergarten parents)
- Caring for our pets on weekends and during the holidays.

Languages
We have educators who speak Punjabi in addition to English. We can also provide formal and informal interpreter services with families as needed and translate and provide information in various languages of our community including Arabic, Vietnamese and Turkish.

I’m truly passionate about child development, neuroscience and trauma-informed teaching practices, and I believe every child can thrive in an environment of safe relationships, respect, and trust and it is my goal to foster a strong sense of community and create a supportive space for both children and families.

Health and wellbeing
Mental health
Our educators are trained in various programs to support the emotional wellbeing of your child and are skilled in working with children who have experienced challenges and trauma. We also offer mental health support for families if you find yourself in need of assistance.
Nutrition
We help children form healthy eating habits. We do this by encouraging them to take an active role in their food preparation through tending to our vegetable, fruit and herb garden. At our kinder, we:
- Grow our own produce
- Practise food safety
- Accommodate all dietary requirements
- Work with families from a range of cultural backgrounds to ensure cultural foods meet standard requirements
- Offer progressive snack and lunchtime to empower children to ask for what they want and when.
