The team at Glassford Street Kindergarten support your child to build the foundations for positive future learning and wellbeing.

Caring for the environment
We teach sustainability practices including recycling, reducing waste and reusing materials for craft. As part of our commitment to caring for the environment, we have a rainwater tank, worm farm and compost area. Children learn about sustainability by growing their own fruit and vegetables in our kindergarten garden.

We welcome visitors to our kinder from:

- Central Gippsland Health and Smiles 4 Miles Program
- Country Fire Association
- Victoria Police
- Gippsland Water
- Local schools
- Living Safely with Dogs Program
- Museum of Victoria.
Sometimes we may have excursions out into the community including walking to the local park or library.

Family and community connections
Families and carers are encouraged to get involved kindergarten community and experiences. You can:
- Join in significant cultural festivals and days
- Volunteer your time to help in our garden or with reading
- Talk to the children about your job, hobbies or other interesting topics
- Assist with fundraising
- Donate to our community sharing shelf
- Donate recyclable materials for art and craft

Nominated Supervisor

Raquel
Hi, I’m Raquel and I’m the Nominated Supervisor and one of the kindergarten teachers at Glassford My career in the early years spans around 20 years and has included roles in multiple services and settings, including kindergarten, education and care, playgroup, funding and policy, advocacy, family services, and community development. I have a Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood). As a mother of two children, I understand and appreciate the importance of the early years for children’s learning and development, and the significant time this is for families. My professional philosophy values the import role of family and community in shaping children’s identities and sense of wellbeing. Mental health
Our educator are trained in various programs to support the mental health of your child and are skilled in working with children who have experienced challenges and trauma. We also offer mental health support for families if you find yourself in need of assistance.

Nutrition
We support your child to make healthy food choices with the key message: Eat Well, Drink Well, Clean Well. We cook with fresh produce from our kinder garden, share healthy recipes and offer children a fresh fruit platter at the beginning of each session.

Safe environment
As a child safe organisation, our educators undergo regular working with children’s and police checks. We are focussed on delivering learning and development in a safe and supportive environment, so you can trust that your child is in good hands.
