Long day care

Bruthen Boorai Children's Centre is connected to Bruthen Kindergarten, offering long day care services 4 days a week for infants and toddlers through primary school age.

Children in our care enjoy a wealth of indoor and outdoor activities and excursions.

To showcase our facility we have created a 3-D Virtual Tour with a dollhouse view and a highlight reel.

Under our expert care, children socialise, learn, and play in our long day care’s wonderful lively spaces. With a range of play equipment, sustainable features, and opportunities for group activities, there is always something interesting to do and learn.

Our early learning centre features:

  • Sandpit
  • Trees and natural shade
  • Vegetable and herb gardening beds
  • Shade sail
  • Play area with climbing equipment
  • Bicycle track
  • Recycling area to encourage sustainability and caring for the environment
  • Gross motor play equipment for activities such as climbing, skipping, throwing and catching
  • Birds and fish
  • Worm farm
  • Water tank
Learning Experiences

We love to organise adventures, inside our early learning centre and out in the community. Children often join Bruthen Kindergarten on excursions, or we take our own to town, the local op shop or library bus. We discover the environment and learn to care for our surroundings through educational activities such as:

  • Recycling waste and water
  • Learning about everyday sustainable practises
  • Tending to the worm farm
  • Helping with composting
  • Taking care of the garden
  • Feeding the chickens
Health and wellbeing

Children discover the joys of growing their own food and how to make healthy choices at long day care and at home. We combine nutrition education with wellbeing and community-building activities to provide a well-rounded, healthy environment.

We do this by:

  • Growing our own produce (e.g. herbs, vegetables, fruit)
  • Accommodating diverse dietary requirements
  • Educating children and their families about healthy eating and nutrition
  • Participating in the Smiles 4 Miles program
  • Eating together as a group
Family and Community

Families are encouraged to get involved in their child’s early learning experience at Bruthen Boorai. Join the children on excursions to the local primary school or library, volunteer, or help with fundraising activities. We value your input and the children love it!

Special services

In association with Bruthen Kindergarten, we receive the services of our Preschool Field Officer. We are also allied with Gippsland Lakes Community Health, Scope and Early Childhood Intervention Services, and Aurora, school for the deaf.
