Bacchus Marsh Montessori Uniting Kindergarten combines the values of Uniting with a Montessori approach to provide an educational, fun and nurturing experience for children from 2 to 5 years of age.

Since 1998, our Montessori kindergarten has been part of the community at Bacchus Marsh. Only 5 minutes walk from Darley Park, our kindergarten is conveniently located and surrounded by nature. Your child will have the opportunity to learn, play and grow with peers in a safe environment.

To best cater for every child, we offer sessions divided by three age groups:

  • Early Learners (2 to 3 year olds) are introduced to the Montessori learning environment by attending 2 hours a week.
  • Kindergarten for children aged 3 years and older attend 5 hours per day up to 3 times a week.
  • Kindergarten for children aged 4 years and above provides the full range of activities and sessions.

To showcase our facility we have created a 3-D virtual tour with a dollshouse view and a highlights reel.

The Montessori approach

At Bacchus Marsh Montessori Uniting Kindergarten, we use the Montessori approach to help children develop into confident, responsible and independent learners.

Montessori inspires children towards a lifelong love of learning by following their natural development. Our Montessori curriculum encourages hands-on activities and collaborative play, children are empowered to take initiative in their learning journey while being guided by an experienced educator.

Children engage with educational and age-appropriate activities according to their interests. They are able to progress at their own pace so their learning experience becomes highly personalised and unique to them.

Our learning environment

Bacchus Marsh Montessori Uniting Kindergarten offers a specially crafted learning environment. Our three classrooms, Early Learners, Burns, and Smits rooms, are all fitted with specialised Montessori equipment and a range of different activities and toys. Our structured and stimulating environments encourage children to play and explore safely.

Our large outdoor space provides opportunities for exploration of herb and vegetable gardening beds and playing a variety of outdoor activities under trees and natural shade. We have some special animal guests, Bluey the blue-tongued lizard who lives in the four year old kindergarten and a family of fish for the three year old kindergarten.

Take a 3D virtual tour of our kindergarten to get a feel for the learning environment. You can also book an in-person tour by giving us a call on 1800 183 103.

Family and community

Social development plays an important role in Montessori education and the overall development of your child. We welcome families and carers into our preschool to share their child’s early learning experience and connect with our little community. Whether assisting with fundraising or having your say through the Parent Advisory Committee, we encourage everyone to get involved.

Your child will have the opportunity to foster relationships with their peers and build friendships through collaborative play and other social activities. Children get to know their local community too, with visits to local primary schools and service people (e.g. police, paramedic, nurse, fire and emergency services, etc.)

We encourage children to embrace creative exploration through our arts and crafts area and other creative activities such as the Music and Drumming Experience Group.

Health and wellbeing

We know that a thriving child is a healthy child so we teach healthy eating habits and general wellbeing. The children get to take an active role in their food preparation through tending to the herb, vegetable and fruit gardens at the kindergarten.

Our wellbeing learning experiences extend beyond nutrition, we also have visits from the dental van and other health practitioners. Our outdoor space gives the children plenty of opportunities to be active outside.
