Uniting Mount Stuart Primary School Childcare Services.
Our Mount Stuart before and after school and vacation care programs provide learning and leisure activities for local primary school aged children (5-12 years old), taking the pressure off busy families who need additional school-based care.
Located at Mount Stuart Primary School 106 Gillon Crescent, Mount Stuart, with beautiful views over Hobart, our service gives your child more time with their peers when school finishes.
We provide experiences to help your child get in touch with the outdoors and nurture an understanding and love for the environment
At Uniting, we provide a culturally safe and inclusive environment and provide translation and other support services where needed.

Uniting Before and After School Care
Before and After School Care is a childcare service that operates outside regular school hours, providing a structured environment for primary school-aged children before the start of the school day and after. Our programs offer a combination of supervised activities, homework assistance, and social interactions, ensuring a safe and supportive space for children while helping support the needs of busy parents.
Students enrolled at Mount Stuart Primary School can attend our outside of school hours services. Our before school care program operates from 6:45 am – 8:30 am Monday to Friday.
Our after school care program at Mount Stuart Primary School operates from 2:45 pm – 6:00 pm Monday to Friday.
Uniting Vacation Care in Mount Stuart
Vacation Care provides a comprehensive childcare service with flexible care options for children aged 5-12 during school holiday periods. We offer the convenience and reassurance to plan ahead, ensuring your child is nurtured in a secure and supportive environment. Our educators organise a range of indoor and outdoor activities for primary school-aged children, including exciting excursions and events.
Our vacation care program at Mount Stuart Primary School operates from 7:00am – 6:00pm during the school holidays. Learn more about our fees here.

Before & After School Care Supervisor
Simon
Hi, I’m Simon and I’m the Nominated Supervisor for Before & After School Care services at Campbell Street, Collinsvale, Kempton, Mount Stuart and South Arm. I have a Bachelor of Teaching from the University of Tasmania.
I’ve been the Program Leader for 18 years. During that time, I have worked predominantly in school aged education, working at several OSHC services and our pre-kinder program at Campbell Street Early Learning.
I’m passionate about assisting children to develop in their life-long learning, and love to see the achievements in their early years. We provide a safe, enjoyable, and fun environment for the children to develop through play-based development and learning tailored from the children’s own interests. My team and I provide a high-quality program in a collaborative community environment.
Health and wellbeing
Mental health
Our educators are trained in various programs to support the mental health of your child and are skilled in working with children who have experienced challenges and trauma. Educators provide both environments and programs that support children’s positive mental health and self–care. We also offer mental health support for families if you find yourself in need of assistance.
Nutrition
We provide nutritious food, full of flavour and made from fresh ingredients. We accommodate all dietary requirements. To encourage healthy bodies and minds, we:
- Grow our own fruit, vegetables and herbs
- Practice food safety
- Work with families from a range of cultural backgrounds to ensure we are offering appropriate food choices
- Provide a morning and afternoon tea lunch box service for children in the vacation care program.
Safe environment
As a child safe organisation, our educators undergo regular working with children’s and police checks. We are focused on delivering learning and development in a safe and supportive environment, so you can trust that your child is in good hands.

Enrolling your child in before school, after school or vacation care is easy. Simply fill out our expression of interest form, contact our team on 1800 183 103, or email [email protected] to learn more about eligibility criteria, enrollment cutoff dates, required documentation, and the enrollment process.
We charge daily fees for each child registered in our after school care or vacation care services. Learn more.
When bringing your child to vacation care, please pack essentials such as a labelled drink bottle, your morning tea and lunch (we provide afternoon tea), and any comfort items your child may need. It is recommended that children wear clothing that can get messy, closed in shoes and a broad brimmed hat.
Some days will require specific attire such as bike helmets, swimwear, etc. This will be noted in the program.
