Early Learning in Hadfield.

Located on Volga Street in Hadfield, our kindergarten service will nurture your child to explore, discover and learn through hands-on activities guided by our experienced educators.

We offer play-based activities tailored to your child’s interests and needs in an environment that will build their sense of belonging, resilience, kindness and teamwork.

Specialist support is available for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, children living with disabilities, those unable to live at home and other children experiencing risk or vulnerability.

A qualified teacher visits our kindergarten each Thursday and Friday to teach Auslan (Australian Sign Language) through play, art, music and stories. These teachings are then incorporated into everyday learning to give children the opportunity to use the language independently.

Hi, I’m Karen and I’m the Nominated Supervisor and teacher of the 4-year-old Echidna Group at H.E. Kane Uniting Kindergarten. I have been teaching at this kinder since 2001. I grew up in Hadfield and have many happy memories within this community.

I have a Bachelor of Early Childhood and have over 20 years’ experience in the Early Childhood sector. Teaching has always been a passion for me.  I feel very lucky to be working with children, I find it extremely rewarding to support children to grow and develop to their best potential. 

Our dedicated team sees the uniqueness and potential in every child. We plan our play-based programs on children’s interests and take pride in our large outdoor space, where children can imagine, explore and develop skills and most importantly have fun!

Uniting educators support the positive mental health and wellbeing of children and their families. Our program includes mindfulness, meditation and caring for self and others.

Nutrition

Healthy eating and good nutrition are key for early childhood development. Our educators work hard to create positive eating environments, which reflect cultural and family values, dietary requirements and give your child the energy they need to be their best selves. We support families to provide nutritious lunch box foods and work with our local supermarket to offer children nutritious snacks throughout the day.

Caring for the environment

Our sustainability motto is “only take what you need.” Our activities focus on how to minimise waste by reusing and recycling.

Through incursions provided by Wellington Shire, we learn about recycling, composting and looking after our worm farm.

We have our own plot in the community garden where we grow seasonal fruits and vegetables and make them available to the community.

We also run regular Nature Play Kinder sessions.

Fostering family and community connections

We strive to provide an environment where all families feel welcomed and accepted. We support and respect all children, as well as our staff and volunteers. We are committed to the cultural safety of Aboriginal children, the cultural safety of children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds, and to providing a safe environment for children with additional needs.

We work in consultation with children and families to deliver a service that is respectful and supportive.

First Nations culture and language

First Nations culture and language are a big part of our program. Acknowledgment to country, songs and learning words in English and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander language are part of our activities. Our yarning circle is used to share stories and gathering to eat. We have a bush tucker garden and we use the foods we grow in this garden in our cooking experiences.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day is recognised and celebrated with an excursion to the Knob Reserve in Stratford. The Knob reserve is a significant site of the Gunaikurnai people with First Nations Elders sharing their culture, language and knowledge of the area on the day.

To support the transition to school in partnership with Rosedale Primary School in terms two, three and four. School transition activities will help you and your child feel safe, secure and gain familiarity with our local school.

Hi, I’m Pauline and I’m the Early Childhood Teacher at Rosedale Uniting Early Learning. I’m a proud Monero Ngarigo woman with a large Aboriginal family in Gippsland. I’ve worked in the early learning sector for over 20 years.

I have a Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood), Graduate Certificate in Educational Inclusion and Diversity and a Master of Education.

Fostering children’s learning and development and being part of their family’s journey makes early childhood education the most rewarding job. Every group is different, but every child’s journey from beginning to end demonstrates the power passionate teachers and educators can have on a child’s development.

At Rosedale Kinder, we’re a team who recognises that every child has their individual strengths and is capable of amazing things. We provide a learning environment that fosters every child’s development. We love what we do.

Hi, I’m Fiona, the Acting Centre Director and 4-year-old Kindergarten Teacher at Yea Uniting Early Learning. I’ve worked in early learning for 25 years and have been the 4-year-old teacher at Yea for 10 years. During this time, I have seen our service grow and develop into the thriving hub it is today.

I have a Bachelor of Early Childhood Studies and am currently studying my Graduate Diploma of Psychological Science.

I love knowing that I am making a positive difference in the lives of the children and families that I support.

Hi, I’m Jodie and I’m the Early Childhood Teacher at Swifts Creek Early Learning Service. I hold a Bachelor of Early Childhood Studies. I’ve been educating the children of Swifts Creek for over 10 years and have worked in early learning for 20 years. My passion and love for this service and community inspires me to continue caring for our future generation.

I’m an advocate for children and extend that into providing them with the best outcomes. Our team educates the children with healthy eating and physical activities. Seeing the children exploring through play and hands-on experiments, and the excitement on their faces as they learn, lets you know you’re making a difference in their lives.

Hi, I’m Siyi (or Jo) and I’m the Early Childhood Teacher at Port Melbourne Uniting Kindergarten. I’ve worked across different children’s services for two years in Lead Teacher and Assistant Educational Leader roles. I have a Master of Teaching in Early Childhood from the University of Melbourne. I’m motivated for all children to have a memorable and meaningful early learning experience.

At Port Melbourne Kinder, we’re a group of passionate and professional teachers and educators where children are our number one priority. We respect children’s agency and believe that all children are confident and capable leaners who bring their own thoughts and knowledge to us. Our Emergent Curriculum focuses on children’s interests and play-based learning. We believe family participation in our kindergarten is vital in achieving the best outcomes for children. Our educators:

School readiness funding

Our kindergarten receives funding from the Department of Education to employ an additional educator to offer higher than standard child to educator ratios in every group.

We also receive 30 allied health sessions to support families and educators in areas of speech, psychology and occupational therapy.

This funding allows us to offer a book gifting program to help children develop a lifelong love of reading.

Languages

Families who have English as a second language are supported with translated materials, learning kits to use at home with their children and access to interpreters. We run an Auslan program once a week with a certified Auslan teacher.

Service Co-Ordinator and Teacher

Hello, my name is Kate and I’m the Service Co-Ordinator and Teacher at Ringwood Uniting Kindergarten. I’ve worked at this kinder for over ten years and within early learning for 30 years. I hold a Diploma of Teaching Early Childhood and am very passionate about keeping up to date with current research and best practice in this space.

Working in Early Childhood is fun, rewarding and interesting. It’s a strong team of passionate and dedicated educators at Ringwood Kinder who strive to provide a high-quality program.
