Uniting Southport Kindergarten

Limited places available. Enrol now.

Uniting Southport Kindergarten has been educating and caring for the children of the Port Phillip community since 1955.

Situated beside the local Uniting Church on a beautiful expanse of land, we offer age-appropriate kindergarten programs for children aged 3-4 who delight in fun, adventurous discovery and learning.

To showcase our facility we have created a 3-D Virtual Tour with a dollhouse view and a highlight reel.

Learning Experiences

At Uniting Southport Kindergarten, children learn valuable skills such as recycling, composting, gardening to develop everyday sustainable practices. Exciting excursions to community-based organisations encourages socialisation and fosters relationships with the environment and people around them.

We take excursions that encourage children to care for the environment and world in which they live:

  • Echo Centre Incursions - more coming up, but previously we've done identifying edible and non-edible plants
  • Captain Trash visit
  • Church Community Garden Collaboration - we promote our families to support the church community garden.
Health and wellbeing

Children are involved in caring for our vegetable garden to help them develop healthy living practices early in life. Our cooking classes teach children about nutrition and food safety while introducing them to foods from different cultures.

Family and community

All families are encouraged to participate in their child’s early learning experience, whether through cultural celebrations, talking to the children, volunteering their time, or getting involved in the parent advisory committee. We believe family and community involvement enriches your child’s understanding of the outside world, so we strive to engage with local groups, services, and activities at every opportunity.

We regularly engage with:

  • Excursions to the local primary school
  • Local service people (e.g. police, paramedic, nurse, fire and emergency services, etc.)
  • Police Visit
  • Dentist Visit
  • Smiles 4 Miles
  • Seedlings program - teaching children about sustainability by reducing energy use, water use, and waste generation at the kindergarten

We have terrific incursions, including:

  • Chicken Hatching
  • Music with JoJo
  • Science Incursions

Our staff speak English and French. We can have all forms of communication translated for families who speak languages other than English.

Special services

Our educators are experienced in working with children who live with a range of physical and intellectual disability or have experienced challenges and trauma. Additionally, two educators from the Port Phillip Specialist School are part of our teaching team.
