Early Learning Centre

Early learning in Roxburgh Park.

Located on the Roxburgh Park Uniting Church site in Perry Court, our kindergarten is led by educators who are passionate about nurturing the social growth and learning needs of your child.

We encourage children to follow their curiosity, explore and discover the world around them through hands-on, nature-based activities.

We plan our play experiences with your child’s interests, abilities and learning style in mind so they engage with the program and develop a love of learning.

Our educators offer an inclusive environment and can support children who live with physical and intellectual disabilities.

Family and community connections

We love it when families get involved in our kindergarten. You can get involved in:

Languages

We are part of the Victorian Department of Education and Training (DET) Early Childhood Language Program. Our kindergarten offers a Mandarin Language Program. Mandarin is incorporated into everyday learning experiences to give children meaningful opportunities to use the language themselves. Children learn this language through play, art, music, singing, dancing, and stories. A qualified Mandarin teacher delivers the language program in partnership with the other staff at the kinder. Learning in languages other than English helps children to improve their overall literacy and understanding of how language in general works. There are many benefits to children learning in another language at a young age, including:

We also have educators who speak Samoan and Japanese and Hindi. We can have all forms of communication translated for families who speak languages other than English.

Kindergarten Teacher

Bessie

Hi, I’m Bessie and I’ve been the Early Childhood Teacher at Roxburgh Park Uniting Kindergarten for over a decade. I’ve worked in early learning for over 20 years and hold a Bachelor of Education in Teaching Early Childhood.

The opportunity to engage in young people’s lives and build on their sense of belonging in this world through play, exploration, building relationships and even making mistakes; is always part of my foundation for working in early learning.

Our service has been here for the community for years. Our early learning foundation is strong and has provided care and education in the Roxburgh Park Community for generations of families. Come for a visit we would love to meet you.

Health and wellbeing

Mental Health

Our educators are trained in various programs to support the mental health of your child and are skilled in working with children who have experienced challenges and trauma. We also offer mental health support for families if you find yourself in need of assistance.

Nutrition

We will encourage your child to make the right food choices. Children bring their own snack, lunch and water bottle. At our kindergarten, we:

Safe Environment

As a child safe organisation, our educators undergo regular working with children’s and police checks. All staff practise the Victorian Child Safe Standards regularly. We are focussed on delivering learning and development in a safe and supportive environment, so you can trust that your child is in good hands.
