Early learning in Gormandale.
Located on Main Street in Gormandale, our town’s rural backdrop will form part of your child’s kindergarten program with hands-on, nature-based learning experiences at their fingertips.
We offer activities that make learning fun and engaging, while encouraging your child to make social connections with their peers, in the local community and with the environment around them.
Our educators are passionate about working with children to build their sense of belonging, resilience, kindness and teamwork.
Our goal is to nurture happy, healthy children and inspire a lifelong love of learning.

Our kindergarten offers indoor and outdoor play areas and equipment to support the physical and social development of your child. Our kinder features:
- Planned indoor spaces
- Large outdoor spaces
- Trees and natural shade
- Vegetable and herb gardening beds
- Worm farm
- Birds and bugs.

Your child will enjoy new experiences and adventures at our kindergarten that will help them build on their strengths, interests and abilities.
Caring for the environment
We make the most of our countryside by encouraging children to explore and play outdoors while they learn about sustainability, how to care for the environment and the rewards of growing their own produce.
This includes:
- Maintaining our worm farm
- Encouraging composting
- Promoting recycling of materials and water
- Tending to our centre’s garden

Incursions
We’re partner with a variety of visitors for our incursions, including:
- Melbourne Museum Discovery Program
- Early childhood educators and entertainers, Jack & Molly
- Country Fire Authority.
Family and community connections
There are many opportunities for families to get involved in our kindergarten in meaningful ways. We welcome you to:
- Celebrate significant cultural festivals and days
- Volunteer your time to support our programs
- Assist with fundraising
- Take an active role in our Parent Partnership Group
- Talk to the children about your job or hobbies
- Help in the garden, with reading or on excursions.

Leading Educator
Kristy
Hi, I’m Kristy and I’m the Leading Educator at Gormandale Uniting Kindergarten. I’ve worked in a variety of early years settings for over 20 years.
I have a Bachelor of Early Childhood Studies and a Post Graduate Diploma of Education (inclusive and Special Education).
I value children’s differences and love supporting their desire to learn through play-based imaginative play spaces and intentional teaching moments. I feel that I have a natural ability to connect with children and foster their interests and development in all learning areas.
We hope that when entrusting your child’s learning to the Educators at Gormandale Uniting Kindergarten, you will feel that they are supported in their connectedness with peers and educators and that the learning environment will actively encourage them to explore their own interests and strengths.
Health and wellbeing
Mental health
Our educators are trained in various programs to support the mental health of your child and are skilled in working with children who have experienced challenges and trauma. We also offer mental health support for families if you find yourself in need of assistance.
Nutrition
Your child will learn about good nutrition to form healthy eating habits. We do this by growing fruit, vegetables and herbs in our centre garden. We also teach food safety practices. We enjoy cooking sessions to teach the children how to prepare healthy food.
Safe environment
As a child safe organisation, our educators undergo regular working with children’s and police checks. We are focussed on delivering learning and development in a safe and supportive environment, so you can trust that your child is in good hands.
